Mallam "Mal" Prior is a trial lawyer who represents people and families in high-stakes civil cases, with a focus on medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, sexual abuse, and serious personal injury. Mal uses a client-focused approach: investigating cases thoroughly, working closely with families, and preparing every matter as if it will go to trial to maximize settlement and verdict value.

At Rossman Law Group, Mal has secured multiple six- and seven-figure settlements in medical malpractice and serious injury cases and has been part of trial teams responsible for record-setting recoveries, including a medical malpractice verdict in excess of 13.5 million dollars and a 20 million dollar burn-injury settlement.

Before joining Rossman Law Group, Mal practiced at an insurance defense firm in Boise, where he routinely defended one of Idaho's largest hospitals and its physicians in medical malpractice matters before the Idaho State Board of Medicine in both state and federal courts. In that role, he learned firsthand how insurers evaluate claims, how defense counsel builds and tries medical malpractice and catastrophic injury cases, and which strategies hospitals and insurance companies use to deny, minimize, or defeat claims.

Today, Mal uses that inside perspective to anticipate defense tactics, strengthen liability and damages evidence, and negotiate from a position of leverage for his injured clients.. He has successfully applied that experience to obtain favorable resolutions for clients whose claims were initially undervalued or disputed.

Long before stepping into the courtroom, Mal competed at a high level in snowboarding. He was a member of the USA Snowboard Team at the 2013 World University Games in Trentino, Italy, and the 2015 World University Games in Granada, Spain. At Westminster College, he was on the snowboard team from 2010 to 2014, earning FirstTeam AllAmerican honors each year, a Men's Individual AllAround National Championship, and Academic AllAmerican recognition.

That same competitiveness and discipline now drives his litigation practice—preparing cases meticulously, pushing through difficult facts, and staying committed to his clients' cases from intake through trial or settlement.

Additional Training

  • Attended the 2022 USLAW NETWORK Trucking Boot Camp at Werner Enterprises in Omaha, Nebraska. This was an intensive two-day conference regarding the trucking industry and transportation law and included hands-on experience with tractor trailers and direct contact with those who work with motor carriers and law enforcement.
